Today we’re making a hearty vegan veggie burger topped with caramelized onions, avocado, spinach, and a vegan homemade thousand island sauce. It's all going in between an everything but the seasoning flavored bun. Is your mouth watering yet??
In-N-Out Animal-Style Sauce
I embarked on a quest to recreate the goodness that is the In-N-Out Animal-Style Sauce that they put on some fries and burgers. I made it without refined sugar and using vegan mayo so it's a healthier version. It's still delicious and incredibly saucy! It's a MUST have for any burger night (and you can use it to dip your fries in!)
Burger Customization
There are some wonderfully fun textures and flavors in this loaded veggie burger.
It’s become a week night staple at our place and is super versatile if you want to switch up any of the toppings. Toppings, in my opinion, are the best part to a burger. A burger isn't complete to me without caramelized onions and lettuce! It also needs a sauce (cue this sauce!)! Though if you're not as into this sauce, I also love throwing my spinach pesto on here
Red onion would be delicious here and some romaine lettuce, go a little crazy and add some sauerkraut!
Veggie Burgers
When I went more plant-based, I wanted to find good veggie burger options. Of course there's the Beyond Meat and Impossible Burger. But I wanted something that I knew all of the ingredients of, so I found these burgers from Actual Veggies and really enjoyed the taste! It's up to you whichever burger base suits your mood! It's kind of all about the toppings anyway, so whatever the burger is, it will taste great smothered in this sauce!
