This age old classic combo of chocolate and peanut butter pairs so nicely in any form, in a date ball, in a baked oats breakfast, and especially in ice cream form! I recently got my Ninja Creami and wanted to experiment with flavors. So this Vegan Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream was formed!
Do I need a Ninja Creami?
The ninja creami has been on my list for a while, and let me tell you, it does not disappoint! I love the texture of the ice cream and how simple it is to use. Also, the ability to control the ingredients that go into your ice cream is next level!! This is not an ad for it at all! I'm just hyped to be able to make my own ice cream at home (with MIX INS!!)!
However, if you don't have a ninja creami, fear not, you can still make this recipe at home for the delicious flavors, it just may have a bit of a different texture! All you need to do is blend everything together then stick in your freezer in a container for 6 hours. Then, scoop and enjoy! It may need a few minutes outside of the freezer prior to scooping to unfreeze? That's a word right? Unfreeze! Yes!
Why I Like Making My Own Ice Cream
After going more plant based, I definitely miss ice cream. But, I don't miss the sugar content and tons of added ingredients (though delicious) in a grocery store pint. I like being able to control what goes into my ice cream and being able to make vegan flavors that aren't just sorbet. (Though I do love my classic 2 ingredient banana nice cream.)
In an average pint of ice cream you're getting anywhere from 20-90 grams of sugar in 1 serving. The daily amount of sugar intake is around 25 grams. So making this ice cream allows me to 1. not get as much of a sugar rush. And also 2. be able to have other sweets if I wanted to!
