Raw Cookie Dough- Why Is It So Bad For You?
So I used to think that eating raw cookie dough was bad because of the potential Salmonella from the eggs. So I was like, great, I’ll just look for ‘egg free’ cookie dough. Then I did some more research and realized it was also the flour in the dough that isn’t good for you to eat raw because it can contain germs that make you sick.
So What's In These Cookie Dough Balls? And Tips for Ingredients!
So when making this raw cookie dough, I looked in my pantry for inspiration. I like making recipes where many people already probably have the ingredients in their pantry and don't need to shop for anything new. For this recipe, I used almond flour as the base and sifted mine for a finer consistency. If you don't want to sift it, that's okay, you don't need to!
The melted vegan butter, maple syrup, and nut butter (I used peanut butter because I love the taste) are the liquids in the batter. Once you mix all of those ingredients together, then add in your chocolate chips. Hot tip: I like chopping my chocolate chips so there are some chunks and some shaved parts to add a variety of textures.
This recipe is super simple and comes together in 5 minutes by just mixing all of the ingredients together. Now, since this doesn't have any baking soda/powder, I would not recommend making cookies out of this. This dough is made strictly for eating (wow, what a relief, that's what I do anyway)!
