They are not just vegan and healthy; they're a flavor-packed sensation that'll make you rethink everything you thought about tofu.
First things first, let's talk about pressing tofu. This is super important to get that perfect texture. Just wrap your tofu in a clean towel, place a heavy object on top, and let it sit for about 15-30 minutes. Voila, perfectly pressed tofu ready to soak up all the yummy flavors!
Now, onto the flavor magic. This recipe needs just 3 ingredients, non-dairy yogurt, tikka masala paste, and tofu. That's it! With only 3 ingredients, it packs flavor! It's a fantastic shawarma replacement for those who don't eat meat but still crave that rich, aromatic experience. Imagine these skewers in a Mediterranean bowl – it's like a flavor trip to the sunny Mediterranean shores!
These Marinated Tofu Skewers are simple, quick, and absolutely bursting with taste. They are the perfect way to showcase how tofu can be a star in vegan cooking, turning the skeptics into believers. Plus, it's so easy to make; you'll be whipping them up in no time! Feel free to pair them with skewered veggies, over a bed of rice, in a pita with sauces like this whipped feta dip, or as the protein source to your meal.
Marinated Tofu Skewers
Ingredients
- 1 cup non-dairy yogurt
- 2 teaspoon green tikka masala paste
- 1 14 oz packet of tofu
- skewers
Instructions
- First press your tofu so it is firm and there is not as much liquid in it to help absorb the flavors of the marinade. Then cut your tofu into chunks
- Combine the non-dairy yogurt and tikka masala paste in a bowl and add your tofu. The longer you let it sit in the mixture the better (I let it sit overnight, if you don’t have as long, at least wait 30 minutes).
- Preheat your oven to 400F and soak your skewers in water so the tofu doesn’t stick once cooked
- Put the tofu on the skewers and put it over a baking pan/bread pan. If you don’t have either you can place the tofu on a baking sheet. Place the skewers in the oven for 20 minutes then rotate and stick them in the oven for another 20 minutes.
- Enjoy with veggie skewers, pita, over rice, or dipped in sauces!
I hope you fall in love with these Marinated Tofu Skewers just as I have! They're a testament to how simple ingredients can create extraordinary flavors. Don't forget to rate and review the recipe – I’m super excited to hear all about your culinary adventures with tofu!
