I recently hosted a dinner party during the middle of the week and I wanted to create the ambiance of a fun vibrant dinner with cute festive drinks, but people weren't as interested in drinking. Thus, the birth of this passionfruit lavender mocktail!

    Passionfruit Lavender Mocktail

The first step to this recipe is to make your lavender simple syrup. I used honey in this recipe, feel free to use coconut sugar or agave or cane sugar instead if you'd like. I wanted the sweetness from the honey and the specific honey taste in the drink. Combine your dried lavender, water, and sweetener of choice over high heat in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Once it's boiling bring to a simmer, and stir occasionally until all of the honey is dissolved in the water. Let it cool for 10 min then pour into a jar through a mesh strainer.

Then shake everything else in a cocktail shaker with ice (if you don't have a cocktail shaker, feel free to use a thermos or something with a lid).

I think the garnish amplifies a drink, so be sure to garnish with fresh mint and some more lavender.

    Mocktails

Mocktails are a great non-alcoholic choice for many reasons:

    1. Inclusivity: Mocktails allow everyone to participate in the social aspect of drinking without the alcohol.
    2. No Hangovers: With mocktails, you’re not getting a hangover the next day!! This should sell you alone!
    3. Staying Hydrated: Alcohol is a diuretic, which can lead to dehydration. Mocktails can help keep you hydrated.
    4. Rich in Nutrients: Many mocktails are made with fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices. This one has fresh ginger as well as apples!
    5. Promotes Better Sleep: Alcohol can interfere with your sleep cycle. Choosing a mocktail can help ensure that your sleep is not disturbed.
    6. Creativity in a Glass: Mocktails encourage creativity, allowing you to explore a wide range of ingredients and flavors!

    Non-Alcoholic Spirits

I consulted one of my friends for some help in crafting a mocktail that didn't just taste like bubbly water and juice. She recommended I get a non alcoholic spirit to amplify the flavor complexity. So, I tried a glass without the non alcoholic spirit, and one with the spirit. I gotta say, hands down the one with the non alcoholic tequila tasted much more like a real cocktail and had such a depth of flavor to it! So, enjoy my recipe below for a fabulous mocktail bursting with flavor and color!
